In 2017 Parklands Explorers stomped, tromped, and pedaled every mile of Parklands trail while making new friends and burning over 85,000 calories. In 2018, Parklands Explorers will continue their focus on physical fitness, camaraderie, and exploration while also stretching their mental muscles, embarking on a pathway to wellness for body and mind.
The 2018 Parklands Explorer: Pathways to Wellness program, presented by Trilogy Health Services and The Bufford Family Foundation, invites community members of all ages and abilities to join Parklands Interpretive Rangers on the second Saturday of each month to traverse a new hiking trail and delve into a related educational topic. From April through September, arrive at 9 a.m. for bonus wellness activities, such as Heart Healthy Walking, Yoga, Functional Body Movement, Tai Chi and meditation.
These monthly hikes are a great opportunity to explore the Eastern Deciduous Forest of Kentucky with knowledgable Parklands staff, while also learning about the people, places, and stories of The Parklands of Floyds Fork. Parklands Explorer hikes and activities are for people of all ages; topics, times, and level-of-difficulty vary based on the month, so check back often! Parklands Explorer Hikes are offered free of charge. Registration is encouraged.
