Welcome to the Outdoor Classroom! Here our purpose is to teach science and natural history education through dynamic experiences in the field that stimulate curiosity, critical thinking and discovery for children, adults and families - all resulting in an enhancement to scientific literacy in our community. The Outdoor Classroom is Louisville’s newest outdoor STEAM center (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), an educational experience utilizing natural history, arts education, and exploration to teach science. We envision a future in which all people view themselves as life-long learners, and share a connection to and appreciation for the natural world, their community and each other.
The Parklands offers day camps during Spring Break and Winter Break, as well as week-long summer camps for children in grades K through 6. Get Outside! Camps at The Parklands offer exciting, enriching, discovery-based field experiences that allow children to touch, see and learn about the world around them. Children will participate in hands-on science investigations in the natural setting of Beckley Creek Park and through the use of state-of-the-art classrooms at the PNC Achievement Center for Education and Interpretation.
All programs offer a balanced day of in-classroom learning and outdoor field experiences. Camp hours are 9:00 AM-4:00 PM with drop-off from 8:30-9:00 AM and pick-up from 4:00-5:00 PM. Campers must provide their own sack lunch, a snack, and a bottle for water each day.
Parklands Members receive a discounted camp price and becoming a member is easy! To learn more about supporting The Parklands through membership (and immediately becoming eligible for discounts) click here.
At The Parklands of Floyds Fork, campers in grades K-6 spend their days participating in discovery-based field experiences and science investigations that keep them engaged and entertained while school is out for the summer.
Get Outside! Summer Camps are based in Beckley Creek Park and the PNC Achievement Center for Education and Interpretation. These full day programs include hands-on classroom activities, field hikes, “Sprayground Wednesdays,” and so much more!
