Louisville, Ky. (June 8, 2018) —In 2017, The Parklands of Floyds Fork celebrated its first year as a fully open park. Nearly 4,000 acres of preserved park space stretching from Shelbyville Road to Bardstown Road, plus the opening of the Silo Center Bike Park, helped the non-profit park system surpass a number of goals, including projected visitation. By the close of the year, there were 3,051,755 visits recorded in the four-park system located in eastern and southeastern Louisville, KY.

The Parklands has seen significant growth in popularity since opening its first attraction in 2011, reaching audiences from as near as Middletown and Fern Creek to as far as out-of-state visitors. The 2017 Annual Report takes a closer look at the benefits the free park provides to the greater Louisville community and beyond.

The Parklands of Floyds Fork does not receive tax dollars for annual operations, so it relies on support from individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the community to keep the parks safe, clean, fun and beautiful, free of charge, 365 days a year.

About The Parklands of Floyds Fork

The Parklands of Floyds Fork is a nearly 4,000-acre donor-supported public park system within the Floyds Fork watershed in eastern and southeastern Louisville. The $125 million project was funded through more than $70 million in private donations, combined with almost $50 million from federal, state and local government sources. Ongoing operations and maintenance are funded solely through private donations and an endowment fund. Community members may contribute to the annual fund by becoming a Parklands Member.
