A portion of the Louisville Loop Trail located in Broad Run Park will be closed on Tuesday, October 11 as arborists remove dead ash trees from along the trail. They are also closing one lane of Broad Run Parkway in the area of Woodland Garden. The closure stretches from Big Vista Overlook to the Woodland Pavilion
The closure begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at approximately 4 p.m.
A flagger will be in place to help direct drivers and cyclists around the one-lane closure of Broad Run Parkway. During the closure, visitors are asked to plan their trip accordingly, using this as an opportunity to explore other areas of the Loop or additional trails throughout Broad Run, Turkey Run, Pope Lick and Beckley Creek Parks.
The removal of ash trees is part of The Parklands multi-level approach to managing damage caused by the emerald ash borer. Learn more about our efforts in this blog post from Horticulture Director Tom Smarr - Managing the Emerald Ash Borer at The Parklands.
