PARKS WILL REMAIN OPEN BUT SOME CLOSURES WILL OCCUR
Louisville is gearing up for another PGA Championship at our neighboring Valhalla golf course. Beckley Creek and Pope Lick Parks will remain open for the duration of the event, but you will notice increased traffic and some parking areas and sections of the Louisville Loop will be affected.
Here's what you need to be aware of:
The William F. Miles Trailhead parking lot will be closed to park users August 4th-10th (passes available for Community Gardeners through the Jefferson Co. Extension Office).
The Distillery Bend parking lot, just off Echo Trail, will be closed to park users August 4th-10th.
There will be several areas of the Louisville Loop where there will be vehicle crossing (especially in the early mornings) to accommodate cars parked in designated grass lots along the Loop. This includes the bottomland area near N. Beckley Paddling Access and areas in Distillery Bend. The Loop will be open, but please use caution when utilizing the Loop in these areas.
Green Earth Outdoors will not be operating paddling rentals during the PGA Championship, but you are still welcome to bring your own craft and utilize our paddling accesses. You will be unable to paddle north of Shelbyville Road due to PGA closures on Floyds Fork, but you may paddle south from N. Beckley Paddling Access.
All other areas of Beckley Creek Park will remain open, but please use caution as there will be additional traffic. There will be NO PGA parking outside of designated lots, and this will be strictly enforced. In addition, the PGA strictly prohibits walk-ins and cyclists from Shelbyville Rd.
