Storytime in the Storybook Forest

ALERT: Due to city and statewide restrictions on social gatherings, The Parklands postponed the launch of Storytime in Storybook Forest. We will continue to evaluate and align our response with city and state guidelines and will post a new kick-off when we are able to pinpoint a date. Thank you for your patience and understanding! For the latest information on The Parklands response to COVID-19, visit

Get lost in a story with us every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the enchanting Storybook Forest in Beckley Creek Park. In this family-style program, children and their parent or guardian will take a short hike on the Osage Orange trail to the Storybook Forest where they will settle in for a book read by one of our interpretive rangers. The sounds and smells of the forest will help our stories come to life!

Storytime in the Storybook Forest is recommended for children ages 2-8 years old.  Each week will feature a different book. This program is free and open to all; no sign up is required. Meet at the Marshall Playground and Sprayground in Beckley Creek Park.

This event will take place outside in all seasons, so dress appropriately for the weather. In the event of hazardous weather, Storytime will take place inside the PNC Achievement Center.

Storytime occurs every Thursday in 2020 with the exception of the following dates: July 2, November 26, December 24 and December 31.

Free and open to all
