Join the Louisville Astronomical Society for a FREE Public Star Party as they celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the First Lunar Landing by Apollo 11 when Neil Armstrong spoke the words that NASA Houston was waiting for, "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed."
The LAS will have historical Apollo 11 documents available, telescopes for viewing the moon and planets, and 4.6 billion-year-old meteorites you can touch and hold.
At 9 p.m., Parklands Ambassador and NASA Solar System Ambassador Ken Alderson will present "Apollo 11 - That was then. This is now. Where do we go from here?" featuring Apollo footage from launch to landing.
You are welcome to bring your telescope or look through one set up by LAS. Kids are welcome and this event is free.
For more information on the LAS, go to www.louisville-astro.org. In the event of rain, the celebration will be canceled.
