Junior Explorer: Seed Dispersal Detectives

The Parklands newest Outdoor Classroom program is perfect for kids ages 5-12, teaching science and an appreciation for the natural world, while encouraging kids to get outdoors and active! Junior Explorers are invited to join monthly educational adventures at the Ben Stout House every first and third Saturday of every month. During each program, Junior Explorers will dig into a new natural history topic while actively exploring outdoors.

Plants are everywhere, all around us. But, they are rooted firmly in the ground and can’t move. Have you ever wondered how a seed gets to a new place? Whether through air, water, land, or animal seeds have evolved great modes of transportation. Join interpretive rangers as we become seed dispersal detectives to find out how that plant got here! The group will meet at the Ben Stout House in Turkey Run Park at 10:00am. Please come prepared with comfortable walking shoes, water, and a light snack. The program will go rain or shine unless there are hazardous weather conditions.

*This program is best suited for kids ages 5-12. Monthly activities are FREE to Members (but please RSVP below) and $5 for non-members (children and adults). Join us for these fun, learning events!

This is a great perk for Parklands Members with kids!
