Parklands Explorer: Tai Chi and Hydrology

Tai Chi is a gentle form of exercise that helps promote balance, strength, and a greater mind-body connection. This low-impact activity is celebrated for its health benefits and is a great activity for all ages. Interested in giving it a try? Join us at 9 AM on Saturday, August 11th as Grandmaster Mingye Ding leads a beginner-friendly Tai Chi class at 9am at the Pignic Barn at the Brown Forman Silo Center in Turkey Run Park. All experience levels are welcome, but this event is best suited for ages 14 and up. Please note that this event takes place outdoors, so remember to dress for the weather and bring a water bottle.

After Tai Chi, stick around to explore Turkey Run Creek and its many tributaries. In addition to being essential to all life on the planet, water has helped shape the land we know and love. Join interpretive rangers as we discuss hydrology; how Turkey Run Creek, Floyds Fork, and many other small streams shape the land and influence plant and animal species in The Parklands. The hike will begin at 10:00 AM from the Brown-Forman Silo Center. All ages and experience levels are welcome for this 3-mile roundtrip walk on the Paw Paw Trail. Remember to dress for the weather, wear a good pair of walking shoes and bring a water bottle.

Explorers may choose to join us for Tai Chi and the interpretive walk or just one of these activities. We hope you will join us on this pathway to wellness as we improve mind, body, and spirit. Participation is FREE, we just ask that you bring a healthy sense of exploration and a sturdy pair of boots!
