Look up! There it is again – the Full Moon! Hmmm…seems to happen once a month. Why?
Join us at 6:30 PM in the classroom of the PNC Achievement Center in Beckley Creek Park to learn all about the Lunar Cycle from NASA Solar System Ambassador and Parklands Ambassador Ken Alderson. Then, every half hour, join the Louisville Astronomical Society and Parklands Rangers for a Hike To The Moon! Earthwise, it will be a short hike out to the Egg Lawn where the scopes are located. But you will travel with your eyes 242,000 miles to the Moon, perched above The Parklands, where you will see mountains along the rim of Luna. Then look closer and move inward, across the lunar landscape, as you use your eye to Hike Across the Moon through our telescopes. Some of them are so powerful that you will be seeing Earth’s satellite from 1,000 miles above the surface. Now, that’s a Hike!
This event is FREE and open to the public!
