The PNC Achievement Center for Education and Interpretation, located at 1411 Beckley Creek Parkway, serves as both the Welcome Center and the home of The Parklands Outdoor Classroom. Generally open to the public from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, here you’ll find knowledgeable Interpretive Rangers, interactive iPads, specimen cases, and a large mural displaying information related to the history and environmental resources of the area. Visitors will also find restrooms, water fountains, a Parklands Interpretive Ranger to help answer any of their questions, and two state-of-the-art classrooms used for field trips, camps, birthday parties, and other events.
- The classrooms in the PNC Achievement Center for Education may be rented for meetings, birthday parties, and other community events. To check availability and plan your event, contact Education and Interpretation Manager, Kim Allgeier, by phone at (502) 584-0350 or by email at email@example.com
- The building is centrally located near the Marshall Playground and Sprayground, Gheens Foundation Lodge, and the Egg Lawn.
- Through the Outdoor Classroom, educators at The Parklands are able to offer both in-classroom and out-of-doors learning experiences that lead to an understanding of our Kentucky landscape and the creatures that live and grow within it. Programs offered include family workshops, spring break and summer camps, interpretive hikes, birthday parties, and scout programs. Most of these programs begin in the PNC Achievement Center.
