Canoe Paddling Access - Beckley Creek Park

When the water level along the Floyds Fork is right, it is a great place for families and individuals to canoe and kayak. In Beckley Creek Park there are two paddling accesses about a mile apart. With the appropriate water level, a paddle from North Beckley to Creekside should take about 1 to 1.5 hours. This is an ideal paddle for an after-work adventure or for school trips.

North Beckley Paddling Access - located near William F. Miles Lakes off Shelbyville Rd. (500 Beckley Creek Parkway), this access to Floyds Fork is in the bottomland and has its own parking area. Bike racks are available for those planning to bike shuttle. This is also a nice area to check out the stream, and has a gravel bar where you might find mussel shells and fossils lying about.

Creekside Paddling Access - located adjacent to the Gheens Foundation Lodge (1440 Beckley Creek Parkway), this paddling access shares parking with the Creekside amenities, and is serviced by a small road for boat drop-off. Or, if you’re not in the mood for paddling, the large limestone steps to the access offer a nice oasis for visitors looking for a view of Floyds Fork.

From either of these accesses you may paddle downstream to the Fisherville Paddling Access in Pope Lick Park, a three to four hour paddle from the Creekside Access when the creek is flowing at 50-100 cfs.
